Menu Foods – Pet Food Recall

Comments Off

Menu Foods is recalling approximately $30 million dollars worth of cat and dog food. The precautionary pet food recall includes brands that sold under 37 different cat food lables and 46 different dog food labels. Included are national pet food names such as Iams, Eukanuba and Nutro.

To tell if you have any recalled pet food in your posession, look on the bottom of the can or pouch and locate the numbers listed. If there is a number between 6339 and 7073 on the second line, and if the number 4197 appears, Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association advises you to discard it.

According to Menu Foods, the recall only includes “cuts and gravy” style foods that are sold in cans and pouches that was manufactured between December 2006 and March 2007.

The recall came to light due to complaints of kidney failure and 14 dog and cat deaths. Petco is offering a full, no hassle refund of any of the listed pet foods included in the recall. For further information you can read the full pet food recall on the Menu Food website.
