Recalled peanut butter is making hundreds of people worldwide sick, from salmonella poisoning.
Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter with “2111” at the start of the serial number is being recalled. Consumers should check to make sure they do not have any of these jars in their home.
Approximately 300 cases have been reported within 39 states since August 2006. No deaths have been reported to date and twenty percent of those had to be hospitalized.
If you discover that you have one of the recalled jars of peanut butter you can return it to the store for a refund or you can send the lid with the recalled number along with your name and address to the manufacturer: ConAgra Foods, P.O. Box 57078, Irvine, CA 92619-7078.
Symptoms of salmonella poisoning include: fever, dehydration, abdominal pain, dizziness and headaches and diarrhea. If you think you may have salmonella poisoning seek medical attention immediately.
