A Freeport family was injured in a car accident when the car they were traveling in struck an embankment, causing them to land in a creek.

Three people were in the vehicle when the accident occurred. A man, 64, woman, 63 and a child, 3, were traveling north on Illinois 40 next to Duden Road when their vehicle crossed over the southbound lane and landed in a ditch on the west side, according to a report by the Illinois State Police.

Their vehicle hit a driveway and went airborne approximately 3 feet. The car continued north into the ditch, striking an embankment just before a creek. The vehicle veered to the left and landed in the water and rocks.
