In a trucking accident, Friday, a semi truck driver fell asleep behind the wheel causing a five-car accident on Interstate 94, according to Michigan State Police.

Police say the accident occurred on I-94 in Calhoun County. The truck driver is a 37-year-old man of Illinois.

A 21-year-old woman suffered minor injuries in the accident. She was treated and released from the hospital.

A 50-year-old Boston woman and a 55-year-old Fort Gratiot woman were both recovering at the hospital after suffering serious injuries.

A 60-year-old man and 31-year-old man both refused any medical treatment at the scene.

The truck driver was not injured in the crash. Police issued a citation at the scene.
