Funeral services are being held in Burnsville on Wednesday morning for former mayor Bobby Harold Johnson, 56, who died over the weekend in a truck traffic accident in Kentucky.
Johnson served as mayor for 20 years in the Tishomingo County Community. Services are being held at 2pm at Harmony Hill Baptist Church in Burnsville. There was no information on survivors.
Kentucky State Police say Johnson died on Saturday when the tractor trailer he was driving crashed on the roadway next to Fulgham Kentucky, just 15 miles north of the Tennessee state line.
Police say Johnson’s truck went off the roadway, into a ditch and crashed into a culvert. Johnson was ejected from the truck and struck by the rear tires of the truck.
Johnson resigned as mayor in July 2005 after five terms. He was a member of the Mississippi Municipal League’s Hall of Fame.
Johnson, also a businessman, owned several different companies: 72 Express Trucking Company to a Mustang Transport and a 72 Express Citgo.
